Since 1892, Hijos de J. Barreras has developed its own style that has been strengthened across time. The largest private Spanish shipbuilder maintains, unchanged, its vocation and passion for shipbuilding, since its first wooden sailing ships in the late nineteenth century.
Throughout this period, Barreras has delivered more than 1,600 vessels. Many of them have been pioneers in design, construction or equipment. And all of them with the most demanding technical and environmental rules. Shipowners all over the world prove Barreras technological solvency and strict compliance of deadlines.
At the end of 2013, the Mexican group Pemex, one of the four biggest international oil companies, acquired 51% of Barreras shares through its subsidiary PMI.
