BRODOSPLIT SHIPYARD Split, Croatia

Brodosplit shipyard is located in Split, the regional center of the eastern Adriatic coast and the second largest city in Croatia, whose history dates back to the Roman emperor Diocletian. Significant development of shipbuilding in this area began by establishing several smaller repair shipyards and their merging in 1922.

The shipyard Brodosplit has been in its current location since 1932.

The Shipyard have 3 leaning slipways for launching, and one horizontal slipway for building of objects of sea technology (platforms, barges,...)

Further we present data about usage of leaning slipways, cranes and about maximal deadweight (tonnages) that can be built in the Shipyard.

A cranes on the slipways:

Slipway 1

- 2x600 kN (two cranes – one on each side of the slipway)
- 2x1000 kN (two cranes – one on each side of the slipway)

Slipway 2

- 1x600 kN (one crane on the East side of the slipway)
- 2x1000 kN (two cranes – one on each side of the slipway)

Slipway 3

- 1x1000 kN (one crane on the East side of the slipway)
- 1x400 kN one crane on the West side of the slipway)

Maximal deadweight (tonnages) that can be built on the slipways (Loa x B)(2):

- Slipway 1: 282 x 50 m
- Slipway 2: 250 x 42 m
- Slipway 3: 175 x 25 m

When constructing longer ships the Shipyard used technology of constructing hull in two parts and

welding them in the sea.
